What the muck is Muck Run?
The actual definition of "run amuk" is: go mad, go wild, go berserk, lose control, go insane, go into a frenzy. Go right ahead. We won't mind.
Muck Run is the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes. A 5K race through North Georgia hardwood forests, creeks, swamps, muck and mire, complete with unique and challenging obstacles.
Where is Muck Run located and what time is the race?
Muck Run will be held at Crockett Creek Crossing, a 400 acre working farm, in North Georgia between Commerce and the sleepy little town of Carnesville. The exact address is:
1075 Holbrook Road, Carnesville, GA 30521 (click here for Google Map)
- From Atlanta, GA: An hour and a half northeast via Interstate 85
- From Greenville, SC: An hour and fifteen minutes southwest via Interstate 85
- From Athens, GA: 45 minutes north via Hwy 441
- From Asheville, NC: 2 and a half hours via Interstates 26 and 85
- From Columbia, SC: 2 and a half hours via Interstates 26 and 85
The races will be run in waves.You will pick your wave when you register.
The gates open at 9AM for packet pickup and walk-up registration.
What do i get for running the Muck Run?

- Awesome Muck Run T-shirt (You must register on or before May 1st to get the free shirt. We will have some for purchase available the day of the race)
- If you're fast, there will be some great prizes donated by Nike and Slow Water!
- A day to let lose with friends and Run A Muck!
What do I need to bring?
- Your Photo ID (each race participant must present ID at Check-In Booth)
- A signed and dated copy of the participant waiver. Click here to download.
- change of clothes (maybe garbage bag for your muddy running clothes)
- change of shoes (Nike Reuse-A-Shoe will be collecting shoes after the race, please plan to donate your muddy shoes!)
- towel
- folding chair or blankets to sit on
- Cash for raffles, food, and drinks
- water to stay hydrated
- Sunblock!
Will there be food and beverages available?
Vanna BBQ will have food and sodas/water available for purchase. You are also welcome to bring a cooler with your choice of food and beverage. ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS. Sorry, there will be no alcohol available for purchase.
What should I wear?
You are gonna be filthy and wet when you finish. So we recommend you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We highly recommend good running shoes too. There will be water stations to rinse off after you race.
Can I wear a crazy costume?
Sure! In fact, we encourage it.
Is the MuckRun safe for my child?
There are certainly risks involved in Muck Run, but we take every precaution possible to get you to the finish line safely. We will have a First-Aid station and there will be trained paramedics on site in case of an emergency. You enter Muck Run at your own risk. A signed and dated copy of the participant waiver must be completed before anyone is allowed to race.
Can we compete with teams?
Yes!
Can I run with my kid?
Yes! Children 11 and under can register for $25 and must run with a registered adult. For any participant under 18 years old, your parent or guardian must sign the participant waiver and release for you, or they must be present at Check-In to sign the waiver for you then. What if it rains?
Awesome! Rain makes muck.
Are spectators welcome?
Yes! There is a $5 entry fee for non-race participants at the gate. Please bring cash or check.

There are also plenty of hotels 13 miles away in Commerce, Ga.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed in the spectator area, but they must be on a leash at all times. Owner is responsible for cleaning up after them.
What is “Check-In”?
This is where all participants must check-in and pick up their race packet.
The packet includes your race bib with safety pins, your t-shirt, and any additional camping permits you may have purchased.
Please bring the following to Check-In:
- Photo ID
- A signed and dated copy of the participant waiver. Click here to download.
Can I pick up my friend’s packet?
Yes, but you will need the following items:
- A copy of your friend’s photo ID
- A signed and dated copy of your friend’s participant waiver
Will you ship me my race packet?
Race Packets must be picked up onsite at Check-In. We will not ship packets to participants.
Can I get a refund? Can I transfer my Registration?
Sorry, no refunds under any circumstances. You are allowed to transfer your registration until May 1st. Simply email us with the following information before the deadline:
- Name of participant who is being replaced
- New participant’s name, email address, mailing address,
phone number, birthday, gender, and t-shirt size.
